Up to 1000 regular devotees of which 650 are monks and nuns are joining together in daily prayer and teachings. On the final day, around 3000 total visitors are expected.<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"3\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"4\">The Power of 100 Million<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">The program centers on the rhythmic recitation of the <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"54\">Vajra Guru Mantra<\/b>: <i data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"73\">Om Ah Hung Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hung<\/i>. By gathering monks, local residents, and international practitioners, the monastery creates a &#8220;spiritual reservoir.&#8221; According to Buddhist philosophy, when a group recites together with a shared intention of <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"329\">Bodhicitta<\/b> (the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings), the merit generated by each individual is augmented by the total number of participants.<\/p>\n<p>The primary goal is twofold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"citation-3\">In<\/span><span class=\"citation-3\">ner<\/span><\/strong><b data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\"><span class=\"citation-3\"> Peace:<\/span><\/b><span class=\"citation-3 citation-end-3\"> Purifying the three mental poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance within the practitioners by recognizing our own wisdom (Buddha-nature).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Global Harmony:<\/b> Dedicating the resulting merit to the pacification of conflict, famine, and environmental imbalance across the globe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For instance, while <b data-path-to-node=\"2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"21\">100,000 recitations<\/b> are said to purify lifetimes of non-virtuous karma, reaching the <b data-path-to-node=\"2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"106\">one-million mark <\/b>traditionally empowers the practitioner to manifest the four enlightened activities: pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating.<\/p>\n<hr data-path-to-node=\"9\" \/>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"14\">A Beacon in Solukhumbu<\/h3>\n<p id=\"p-rc_0415c6e405e3eafc-20\" data-path-to-node=\"15\"><span class=\"citation-2\">Under the leadership of<\/span><b data-path-to-node=\"15\" data-index-in-node=\"22\"><span class=\"citation-2\">\u00a0 Sherlo Rinpoche Tulku Pema Tarjen, Vajra Master of the Recitation Program, <\/span><\/b><span class=\"citation-2\">the participants are led through the daily prayers and teachings for the 10-day program<\/span><span class=\"citation-2\">. The monks, nuns and visitors are very grateful for all his blessings and the oral transmission of the Vajra Guru Mantra.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"16\">&#8220;Parts of the world are in turmoil, chaos and war&#8221;, monastery Secretary Ngima Tendup Sherpa notes, &#8220;and there are so many people with personal problems. This program advocates for world peace, signifying the cessation of all armed conflict and the end of suffering for all sentient beings. In these turbulent times, we invoke Padmasambhava, the Buddha of the Three Times, known for his power to subdue ignorance, greed, and hatred.
