A confluence of spirituality, culture, and sports.
The International Saga Dawa Running Festival is a special event that blends spirituality, culture, and adventurous running amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of Solududhkund Municipality. This festival is organized in honor of Saga Dawa, which commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Lord Buddha.
This running festival aims to promote Salleri as a spiritual and adventure tourism destination by traversing heritage trails, monasteries, and historic sites.
Main Attractions of the Festival
May 10, 2025 | Community Run (5 km)
- An open run for all age groups, especially suitable for children and beginner runners
- A special city tour showcasing different parts of Salleri
May 11, 2025 | Main Competitions
- Full Marathon (42.195 km) – ITRA certified with UTMB Index, covering sacred and historic sites including Thupten Choling Monastery, Sherlo Monastery, and Junbesi Monastery
- Half Marathon (21.0975 km) – A heritage trail run covering Beni village, Phera, Chiwang Monastery, Suki village, and Phaplu Monastery
- Salleri Heritage Trail Run (11 km) – A scenic route passing through Guru Monastery, Yangsa Monastery, and Meto Pakena Dolcho Choling Monastery
The festival will also feature meditation sessions, cultural performances, a youth art exhibition, local food showcases, and a traditional attire fashion show.
